Charity Awards 2024

Kate Higgins: “The awards ceremony was an amazing celebration of such important work being done across the sector”

RefuAid won the grantmaking and funding category at the 2023 Charity Awards. Read what the award has meant to them from their COO, Kate Higgins.

We were thrilled to have won the Grantmaking and Funding category of the 2023 Charity Awards for our Equal Access Loan, providing interest-free finance to refugees in the UK. This was a huge testament to the hard work of our team, but also much needed recognition of the impact of providing accessible finance to those who need it.

All too often individuals from a displaced background, and other marginalised groups, are excluded from mainstream finance and face huge barriers to education, employment and stability. Financial inclusivity is a vital lifeline to overcoming these obstacles and living independent, dignified lives, so we’re incredibly proud to be contributing to this and having our work recognised and celebrated.

The awards ceremony itself was an amazing celebration of such important work being done across the charity sector and provided a valuable opportunity to network and collaborate. Being part of the awards has inspired us to continue working towards a fairer and more compassionate world, alongside so many other incredible change-makers.
